“The Royalty: La Realeza” is the highest selling Latin album in the US and Puerto Rico
RKM & Ken-Y are also #1 on the Latin Rhythm Chart for the second week in a row
Miami, FL (September 24, 2008) – RKM & Ken-Y’s latest musical opus “The Royalty: La Realeza” is the #1 album on the Soundscan Latin sales chart. The romantic duo are officially the kings of soundscan as their sophomore album becomes the highest selling Latin album in the US and Puerto Rico in its second week of release. The album has already shipped more than 100,000 units to date and is certified as a platinum record.
“The Royalty: La Realeza”, released under Pina Records/Machete Music, brings RKM & Ken-Y their first overall Latin Chart number one. Their debut album “Masterpiece” peaked at the number two position when it was released in February of 2006. The album went on to sell more than one million units worldwide and is still recognized as one of reggaeton music’s most successful albums to date.
With “The Royalty”, RKM & Ken-Y are on pace to top their previous accomplishments. The album has been praised by press, media and fans as an evolution of the genre with musical influences that include everything from R&B and pop sounds to cumbia and tropical influences. The album features collaborations with the biggest names in urban music including Don Omar, Ivy Queen, Plan B and Hector Acosta “El Torito”.
The first official single “Te Regalo Amores” continues to climb the Top 10 of the BDS Latin Rhythm radio chart and it’s music video can already be seen in rotation on all music video outlets in the country. The street single “Tuve Un Sueno” also continues to dominate Puerto Rico radio. The underground video for the song was leaked on youtube and has already witnessed immediate popularity. It will be officially released to video channels later this week.
This week RKM & Ken-Y return to Puerto Rico to continue the promotion of “The Royalty” after having participated in an extensive promotional tour that took them throughout the continental US in a period of 2 weeks including stops in Dallas, Houston, Orlando, Miami, Los Angeles and finally New York. The return to Puerto Rico was celebrated with an in-store autograph signing at Sam’s in the city of Humacao. Another in-store event is schedule for this Saturday (9/27) at the Walmart in Mayaguez.
Furthermore, RKM & Ken-Y continue to prepare for their stellar performance at next year’s Vina Del Mar festival in Chile. The festival is one of the music world’s most prestigious events and RKM & Ken-Y’s participation only further seals their status as one of the most respected and revered entities in Latin music.
