MIAMI, FL (Tuesday, November 18, 2008) – "Te Amo", the debut release from Makano, is finally available today in stores and online in the United States and Puerto Rico. The album marks the first full-length musical production from the young artist and composer. Over the last year, Makano has established himself as a premier radio presence topping the charts throughout Latin America and breaking through onto mainstream radio in the US with his single "Te Amo". The song, title-track of the album, has become one of the most requested songs in the US and has already broken the Top 10 of the nation's urban charts.
Prior to breaking through as an underground sensation and later a radio star in the US, Makano proved to be an international sensation. The Panamanian artist was recognized with awards for Best New Artist in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. His music also became extremely popular in countries such as Argentina where his original and unmistakable fusion of reggaeton, socca and romantic elements proved to be a favorite for the music consuming public. His take on the "romantic style" version of reggaeton, made popular in Panama, then seeped into the underground masses in the West Coast of the US where Makano sold out concerts in cities such as San Francisco and Los Angeles throughout 2008.
In early November, Makano joined RKM & Ken-Y for a special Myspace secret show concert in Hollywood, CA becoming the first reggaeton artists to perform at the world famous Roxy nightclub, a venue usually frequented by alternative music acts and home to infamous and legendary performances by bands such as Guns & Roses, Motley Crew and Sublime, amongst others. The capacity crowd instantly solidified Makano's appeal and popularity by singing along to unreleased tracks from Makano's album word for word including "Déjame Entrar" and "Si Tu No Le Dices" and of course the smash single "Te Amo", a track that has already become a radio staple in LA.
This week Makano finds himself in Florida for various promotional and media activities in Orlando and Miami before returning to Latin America for an extensive collection of appearances and concerts.
