
Los  Angeles, February 24, 2010 -  The king of urban music and Latin superstar won top honors with a groundbreaking  performance that had audiences on their feet until the early  morning.
DON OMAR brought down the house at the Viña del Mar Music  Festival, the biggest Latin music festival in the world, playing for more than  two-hour show that continued into the wee hours of the morning at the audience’s  request. The urban music star, who had already successfully performed at Viña in  2007, had promised a “glorious night” of music that would be the talk of the  week-long Festival, and he came through.
Don Omar took the stage with a  band of 16 musicians and nearly 30 dancers, playing a groundbreaking show that  was equal parts spectacle and musicianship. For over two hours, the “Don”  presented his greatest hits such as “Candela,” Dale Don Dale” and “Angelito”  before an audience of more than 15,000 people who all danced non-stop. Don Omar  opened the show with songs from his latest hit album, “IDON” featuring  fireworks, explosions and his troupe of dancers, dressed as “androids” and  painted electric blue from head to toe.
Forever exploring new music  possibilities, Don Omar also invited onstage virtuoso pianist Arthur Hanlon with  whom he performed a beautiful acoustic medley along with his  orchestra.
When the “King of Kings,” finished his show, the audience  refused to let him go, awarding him first the Silver and Gold torches, and  finally the Silver Seagull (Gaviota de Plata), the highest honor awarded in  Viña. Even after the television cameras stopped rolling; Don Omar continued to  perform for fans that refused to leave the arena.
Earlier that week, Don  Omar had received a platinum download for digital sales of over 75,000 copies of  his album “Idon.” He will soon announce his plans for his new tour and new  album.
